Three Strikes Law

Gregory Taylor

Picture
Taylor was homeless and sleeping at a church in downtown LA when he tried to pry open the doors of a soup kitchen one evening to satisfy his hunger. Taylor was sentenced to 25 years to life for the offense as a result of it being his third strike. More than ten years earlier, Taylor had been convicted of two robberies, both of which involved no weapons and no injury to anyone involved. Judge Peter Espinoza of Superior Court ordered the release of Taylor, finding his time had been served. Gregory Taylor is one of few lucky offenders that receive some sort of pardon.
